Building Independence, Step by Step

🤧 Social Story: When I Sneeze

Teaching children how to sneeze safely is an important part of keeping everyone healthy. This simple social story shows children the correct steps to follow when they sneeze — using clear actions they can easily copy and remember.

This is especially helpful for special needs learners who benefit from visual, step‑by‑step guidance.

🌟 What Children Learn

✔ 1. Cover your mouth and nose

Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze.

✔ 2. Throw the used tissue away

Put the tissue in the trash can right after using it.

✔ 3. Sneeze into your elbow (if no tissue)

If there is no tissue, sneeze into your elbow instead.

✔ 4. Turn your body

Turn your body backwards or sideways so you don’t sneeze on people.

✔ 5. Wash your hands

Always wash your hands with soap and water after sneezing.
